Science Communication - Criteria

Overall Criteria for Your Science Communication Design

Three pillars with questions for science communication media design are considered.

Science communication goal is clear, understandable and meaningful for the audience.

The presented scientific knowledge (content) is correct, well selected and structured /reconstructed. At least one scientific source from research on oil palm agroforestry is included.

The medium, design and reconstructed contents are adequate for the target group.

References: Sources cited are used appropriately. Copyright is considered.

Overarching Group Activity: To communicate scientific research, you can choose to write a newspaper article, design an infographic, or create a video. Be as creative as you like. You can design it on paper (hand-drawn and scan) or use an app/a tool you like to work with, e.g., PowerPoint or Canva.

Popular Articles

(min. 1 to max. 3 DIN A4 pages)

or newspaper articles or short articles written for the general public.

Press release: Less fertilizer and no herbicide but same yield?

Infographics

(max. 2 DIN A4 pages or equivalent format)

are quick and clear visual representations of information, data, or knowledge.

Video

(3-6 min)

Here, a video for science communication is meant. It can be an explanatory video and can optionally also include a short interview – if you like. Regarding the duration, a shorter and meaningful message is more important than length.
